One of the notable silent works of director, Yasujiro Ozu. Beginning with a humorous portrayal of adolescents in a bragging match, the tone takes a turn as children reproach their father and prosecute the world of grown-ups with more gravity than a satirical jab. The film won Kinema Junpo's first prize the year of its release.
