Story

Kasumi (Ganbareruya Yoshiko) works as a wedding planner, having given up on her own marriage prospects since everyone sees her as “the plainest girl in the world.” One day, her handsome boss Kuze (Mokomichi Hayama) sudddenly proposes to her. Kuze declares himself as “being attracted to plain people,” and he speaks favorably of Kasumi’s ugly appearance. However, Kasumi refuses to accept this situation. She ignores Kuze and devotes herself to work, but trouble breaks out. On top of everything, flower coordinator Takeuchi (Takuro Ono), who works on decorating weddings with Kasumi, ends up falling for her too... Despite being the “plainest girl in the world,” they both tell her she’s genuinely attractive. Which one is she destined to be with? This is the story of a fantastically plain wedding planner caught up in a love triangle.

Notes

After a long search, it was on a late-night comedy show broadcast on October 2017 that I came across the “plainest girl in the world.” She had a distinctive appearance... but her smile captivated the audience, and I couldn’t stop looking at her pink cheeks. It was love at first sight, and I knew I’d have to cast this woman, Ganbareruya Yoshiko, as the star in the “Something B” movie. “Something B”, written by Shiki Yukita, is a fun comedic novel about work that was selected for the 2016 Novel Award (presented by Shueisha). Taking on the challenge of her first starring role, Yoshiko plays a wedding planner responsible for giving people a moment of joy. She stars alongside Takuro Ono and Mokomichi Hayami.Even when they were outside their roles, the two were really captivated by Yoshiko on set. The film is a sort of fantasy to give anxious women courage around handsome men, regardless of their looks. I hope all of you are captivated by Yoshiko!
